I went to Confession every Saturday, four o’clock sharp. Anyone unprepared asked for remarks. Contrary to belief, I took years polishing an eloquent routine, all the way down to the right DSW shoes. Each week, I trimmed more and more time off each session to show improvement in my self reflection as Father Bob once said I lacked. After I requested the holiest advice, my priest sent me to a website called Christway Counseling for qualities I must inherit. Availability vs. self-centeredness: the first item on the list to fix. Periodically, but only occasionally, I turned down pleas from classmates to finish their essay. Presumably, I decided the next time she begged for my aid, I proved my devotion to God: I wrote the whole essay. As the†¦show more content†¦By pure chance, a gust of wind knocked me straight to the floor as Peter galloped out, sneering in my direction. â€Å"She should have brushed her hair before this,† he thought, noticing the fault in my prepa ration. I clenched onto the knot I formed in the process of twirling the choppy frames of my face. My escape plan seized and I looked towards the lion’s den; the smoke surrounded me, oppressed my body into a glass ball about to crack. Notwithstanding my desire to suddenly catch a contentious and lethal disease, I trudged into judgment day under the heated magnifying glass. My initial breath selfishly absorbed any existing oxygen. Gasping for air, all circulation ran out of my toes; each step felt heavier and heavier until my feet locked with the carpet and soon my face reached the edge of the chair before I did; nevertheless, I army crawled through the blind spot between the priest and me, wiping the mud off my face. Obeying the order, I sprang onto the chair like it was my duty to fill it; as soon as I made full contact, my sinful actions steamed the vacant atmosphere. Second grade students are assessed to simply find the areas of struggles in their learning. Setting goals in learning is most important for each student and the teacher, the journal will help both teacher and students stay on top of these goals. I learned that it is very helpful, and important for teachers to conduct review sessions, these sessions will help struggling students build strength in their weak areas of learning. In conclusion, learning assessments are necessary for both student and teacher, and good idea must first start with a plan and I believe this is what a learning assessment will accomplish. First of all in a communist regime, people are all equal to each other no matter how educated that person is, in the eyes of the government. For example a Surgeon how is very well educated is equal in status with a peasant farmer because in communism their is no such thing as lower class, middle class and upper class. Eliminating economic boundaries which separate people, benefits the whole society because then we eliminate the have and have not, as a circumstance it eliminates crime. Secondly in a Communist economic system people are never unemployed because the government owns the means of production. Meaning the governments owns all the factories and stores because their is no private owner ship in a Communist system. This is good because the government can control and decide what is needed for the good of society and produce it. Another reason why Communism is good is because everyone in the country is provided with a job, house and food; no one is denied the essentials of life. One of the most fundamental human rights is access to adequate health care. In Communist countries the right of access to health care is very well practiced, because no one is denied health care. In a Communist country you could go to the Doctor for lets say a Flu shot or a complicated procedure such as a triple coronary bypass surgery and the government will pick up the tab, because in communist countries every life is valuable. People are broken down into groups by how much money they make. Depending how much money you make; you will be seen different in the eyes of the government. For example if you are a poor nobody from the lower class, chances are if you walk in to a senators office he will not even see you because you have no money. But if you are a Corporate elite chances are he will see you because you have influence, and influence in a Capitalistic society is money. In a Capitalistic system people are forced to compete against each other to the bitter end. Children are taught in their schools that individualism is the only way to success and only to worry about themselves and not society. So basically children in a Capitalistic system are taught to benefit themselves and not society. Due to this Capitalistic countries face huge problems which plague their cities and small towns. For example drugs, murders, robberies etc. Are a cause of capitalism, not only that, the distribution of wealth is ridiculous. A few control the wealth, well others try to survive, and the wealthy get wealthier and the poor get poorer. In a Capitalistic system the have and have not are very enormous causing those who have nothing turn to crime to receive what they believe they deserve. Also in capitalism system the government in not very generous because it doesn't take care of its people. For example if you lose your job and you can't receive any kind of benefits then you are screwed, because you will become one on the millions in a Capitalist system in which people are forced to live in the streets and eat out of trash cans. Biography of Francis R. (Dick) Scobee Since the Space Age began, astronauts have risked their lives to further the exploration of space. Among these heroes is the late astronaut Francis Richard Dick Scobee, killed when the space shuttle Challenger exploded on January 28, 1986. born on May 19, 1939. He grew up fascinated by airplanes, so after graduating from Auburn High School (Auburn, WA) in 1957, he joined the Air Force. He also attended night school and acquired two years of college credit. This led to his selection for the Airmans Education and Commissioning Program. He received his bachelor of science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Arizona in 1965. Continuing his Air Force career, Scobee received his wings in 1966 and went on to several assignments, including a combat tour in Vietnam, where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal. Flying Higher He next attended the USAF Aerospace Research Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base in California. Scobee logged more than 6,000 hours in 45 types of aircraft, including the Boeing 747, the X-24B, the transonic aircraft technology (TACT) F-111 and the C-5. Dick was quoted  as saying, When you find something you really like to do, and youre willing to risk the consequences of that, you really probably out to go do it. So, when he had the opportunity to apply for a position with NASAs astronaut corps, he jumped at it. He was selected in January 1978, and completed his training and evaluation period in August, 1979. Besides his duties as an astronaut, Mr. Scobee was an Instructor Pilot on the NASA/Boeing 747 shuttle carrier airplane. Beyond the Sky Scobee first flew into space as pilot of the space shuttle Challenger during STS-41C on April 6, 1984. Crew members included spacecraft commander Captain Robert L. Crippen, and three mission specialists, Mr. Terry J. Hart, Dr. G. D. Pinky Nelson, and Dr. J. D. A. Ox van Hoften. During this mission, the crew successfully deployed the Long Duration Exposure Facility (LDEF), retrieved the ailing Solar Maximum Satellite, repaired the orbiting Challenger on board, and replaced it in orbit using the robot arm called the Remote Manipulator System (RMS), among other tasks. Mission duration was 7 days before landing at Edwards Air Force Base, California, on April 13, 1984. That year, NASA honored him with the Space Flight medal and two Distinguished Service awards. Scobees Final Flight The next mission was as spacecraft commander of   the shuttle mission STS-51L, also aboard the space shuttle Challenger. That mission launched on January 28, 1986. The crew included the pilot, Commander M. J. Smith (USN) (pilot), three mission specialists, Dr. R. E. McNair, Lieutenant Colonel E. S. Onizuka (USAF),and Dr. J. A. Resnik, as well as two civilian payload specialists, Mr. G. B. Jarvis and Mrs. S. C. McAuliffe. One thing made this mission unique. It was scheduled to be the first flight of a new program called TISP, the Teacher In Space Program. The Challenger crew included mission specialist  Sharon Christa McAuliffe, the first teacher to fly in space. The mission itself was delayed due to bad weather and other issues.     Liftoff was initially scheduled at 3:43 p.m. EST on January 22, 1986. It slipped to the  23rd, then to January 24th, due to delays in mission 61-C, and then to January 25th because of bad weather at transoceanic abort landing (TAL) site in Dakar, Senegal.   The next launch date was January 27th, but another technical glitch delayed that one, too.   The ​space shuttle  Challenger finally lifted off at 11:38:00 a.m. EST.  Dick Scobee died along with his crew when the shuttle exploded 73 seconds into the mission, the first of two shuttle disasters. Photonics Lab Introduction In the world of communication, lasers can be very helpful in transporting a variety of information across the planet. In this experiment, we decided to advance our knowledge about lasers and perform more tedious activities with them. Instead of shooting lasers through a gelatin substance and reading angles in which they reflect, we were going to step it up a bit. This time our final goal was to be able to verbally communicate through space using a laser. Photonics is described as science and technology based on and concerned with the flow of electrons. The Communication system that relies on the flow of photons is known as a Photonic Link. I plan to successfully be able to communicate over free space using a photonic link in the end of this experiment. Materials/Methods In this experiment, we needed the following materials: †¢ A Laser (with all hook-ups) †¢ A signal generator †¢ 2 Amplifier circuits †¢ A photo-detector †¢ An Oscilloscope (with hook-up cables) †¢ A speaker †¢ Soldering Iron for putting together circuits †¢ Transformer Task 1 Construct one of the Amplifier circuits following directions and using the soldering iron. Connect battery and speaker to the circuit. Connect the amplifier circuit to the oscilloscope and signal generator. Connect the signal generator directly to the oscilloscope. Calculate the voltage amplitude from the amplifier from the minimum and maximum settings. Calculate the gain in decibels. Task 2 Modulate the laser using the transformer. Turn on amplifier circuit. Point laser towards the photo resistor. Connect to the oscilloscope. Adjust the amplifier until you can hear the signal generator signal. Task 3 Connect oscilloscope to amplifier. Modulate laser as before. Point laser towards photo detector. Perform measurements of voltage output for different frequencies. Take measurements at the highest frequency that will provide a measurable voltage. Report data in a graph. Calculate the bandwidth of the voltages that were measured. Task 4 Construct the second amplifier circuit. Connect a microphone to the amplifier instead of a photo detector. Connect the transformer to the amplifier. Connect voltage supply to the laser. Adjust the amplifiers until you can successfully project your voice through space using the laser and it can come out the speaker on the other circuit. Results In the first task we were able to successfully solder together the circuit and it was able to amplify the signal from the generator, as it should.
